A few years ago, an audiophile engineer tried to create a new cabinet design which could effectively limit cabinet colorations in a dynamic loudspeaker to a greater extent than ever before. During the first few weeks, it became obvious that the current cabinet configurations and dampening materials on the market didn’t effectively limit cabinet colorations through the lower and middle octaves of the frequency response range, especially the midrange, lower midrange and midbass regions. It then became their desire to invent a new cabinet design which would limit colorations in these ranges which encompasses a total of over 5 octaves.

Eventually a new cabinet design was created with an innovative structure, creative frame bracing and a revolutionary dampening scheme. But there were unexpected improvements to the overall performance! Since the cabinet’s interior coloration was now minimized, the noise floor of the speaker lowered tremendously, the transient/decay response improved dramatically and the overall soundstage became more three dimensional and realistic in playback. These improvements now encompass the patent-pending AccuRangeTM Technology which is used in every Aural Acoustics loudspeaker.
This group of engineers came together to form Aural Acoustics and bring this technology to the market without any compromises. But the founders of Aural also worked in high-end audio stores for many years and understood that the speakers had to offer not only stellar performance but also amazing value and be easy to integrate into any room environment. This is our commitment to the market. And the Aural Model B, our introductory model, is a perfect example. Our original no compromise design used military grade film/foil capacitors with incredibly low distortion, individually isolated driver chambers (including an acoustic suspended cylinder for the midrange), a carbon fiber/Kevlar hand woven midrange, an external crossover, air coil inductors, free floating driver baffles isolated on bituminous felt and a harmonically time aligned driver layout with low diffraction grills. And it took many sleepless nights, but we created the production Model B with NO changes from our original prototype. This was done because the Model B is truly a no compromise loudspeaker. But we also made sure the Aural Model B was easy to integrate into any room environment and offer amazing value. This is our statement to the industry that compromises don’t have to be made in the pursuit of the ultimate musical reproduction and value can be preserved as well. And in the future every loudspeaker we produce will follow the same important principals.
